Welcome!
“ProTELC – Pro Thuringian Engineering Life Cycle” is a joint project of the Allianz THÜR ING (Alliance of Thuringian Engineering Sciences) aimed at strengthening the labour market skills of national and international students – especially in STEM field. Therefore, a range of e-modules have been created for you to enhance your key competencies.
The project focuses mainly on you as graduates with foreign university entrance qualifications, since you are the ones who frequently face significant challenges, especially in the transition from graduation to entering the labour market. Our e-modules are designed to counteract any existing barriers to entering onto the regional labour market.
Developing Career Skills from Day One
The student life cycle begins with the enrollment in a study programme. In this first phase, the students’ focus is often on the “here and now” and less on their personal future.
As a result, many students realise only shortly before their graduation, how important it is to acquire labour market oriented soft skills at an early stage, offered through training and classes at universities and colleges throughout the course of their studies.
For this reason, we are committed to already providing you with the opportunity to acquire key competencies from the first day of your studies, instead of bringing them to your attention only shortly before your graduation from university. At the core of these modules is the teaching of soft skills to help you better integrate into society. The e-modules are available to all seven ProTELC member universities free of charge.
E-Modules: A Digital Gateway to Success
Did you know that the term e-modules has different meanings depending on the discipline it is used in? For example, in engineering jargon, the term “e-module” stands for elasticity module, strain module, or Young’s module. In the courses offered here, however, they are electronic modules, i.e. online modules provided on an electronic platform such as our “THUR-ENG.Works” app.
The range of small online units for self-study are aimed at anyone interested in learning more about the German job market, its customs, especially in the application process, but also outside the professional world. The courses are offered in English and are available to all interested students free of charge. In principle, the individual modules build on each other, but can also be worked through according to preference. In the various videos and handouts, we explain what you may have always wanted to know about Germany – and especially about Thuringia – , the application process in Germany, or lifelong learning. Thereby, we probably already provide one or the other explanation as to why your internship or job in Germany may not have worked out the way you wanted. In addition, in each section you will find summaries and exercises to work on independently, allowing you to apply the newly gained knowledge straight away.
THUR-ENG.Works
The “THUR-ENG.Works“ app is being developed as an independent sub-project within the ProTELC programme. It is aimed specifically at English-speaking engineers and supports you in starting your professional career in Thuringia after graduation. Based on the motto “Work in Thuringia – making Thuringia work for you! “, the platform offers you valuable support – completely free of charge throughout your studies.
